LW radio item on Abandoned Engineering S7 E4

I was catching up on some programmes and came across this item about the Japaneses long wave transmitters built around 1918 that consists of three towers made of concrete, standing near Saikai Bridge. It is said that these towers relayed the cipher that initiated the Pearl Harbor attack which set off the outbreak of the Pacific War. We all know how that ended!
These towers with a height of 136 meters stand on the vertex of a 300 meter-equilateral triangle took five years to built starting with Taisho 7(1918).

I think it's a shame that in almost a week no-one has commented.
I had no idea about that Chris. Most interesting + thanks.

Hi chaps. You are not being ignored Chris. I flagged up that program from the Yesterday Channel on February 3rd [under the heading "Radio Beacon"] but in General Vintage Technology! "Websites" probably doesn't get the same level of attention I suspect. I'd thought it might be related to those Japanese signals but couldn't be sure:shrug:. It was intriguing as there was little other info.
Abandoned Engineering is indeed a very interesting series!

There was another Abandoned Engineering programme that featured the Warsaw Radio mast and its subsequent collapse- this quarter-wave 227kHz (subsequently 225kHz in accordance with Geneva Plan multiple-of-9 channel spacing) vertical was the world's tallest structure for 17 years and collapsed during guy-wire replacement in 1991. It stood on an insulating base rated to 120kV, and lightning protection came from a shorting bar connected to an RF node partway up the mast.

D'uh- I should have said that the Warsaw Radfio mast was a half-wave structure, not quarter-wave (hence the extreme height). How embarrassingly basic.
