Baird Televisor at auction.

Hello all,

There was a recent auction in Market Drayton that had a Televisor listed, anyone know if this was the one and if so how much did it sell for ?

( ebay link removed - see post #4 )

Re: Baird Televisor

Hello there,
Yes it looks identical to the one sold at Wetwood recently (radiophile auction) It sold for £3000 I think.

I think It is a bit of a pity people buy things from these
sales and then sell them on Ebay to make a profit. There appeared to be a few people buying very large quantities of radios, test equipment ect. and it is the same people each time an auction is on >:(

Re: Baird Televisor

Hello there,
The Baird televisor sold for £4100 in the end It sold for £3000 at Wetwood the other week. £1100 profit for holding it a few days!

If it was the same televisor in a recent auction, then the buyer had no interest in it or to appreciate its historical significance, other than to make a (possible) large profit from it. Maybe its a shame that sometimes these sort of items cant find there way directly into a collectors hands.

The Televisor has been sold to someone in France :'(

Note from archivist.

This old thread, heavily pruned, has been considered worth archiving as it records the appearance of a rare survivor from the early days of television.

The ebay link in post #1 has, however, been removed as it is no longer active.
