Vintage 'BBC' cans.
 

These headphones appeared at my local auction house today. I could not get close to them as they were in the locked cabinet that is only opened as the items within are auctioned, so the picture is not clear due to reflections.
I could not read the small legend as I did not have my reading glasses with me!
They are branded 'BBC' and 'Made in England'. Would they have been intended for telegraphists or domestic use?

They are domestic in the early days of Wireless everything for Domestic Radio had to have a BBC registration number to show that the royalties were being collected.

If you look in Radio Radio there is a section that shows the different designs from as the requirements changed.

I get the feeling that I should have bid for them ! I didn't stay to see if they sold, but if they are still there next week I may have a go.
I am not clear what 'Radio Radio' is. A website?

PS I had a look at your Cossor site and found it very interesting. I have a Cossor scope, but couldn't see any mention of the connection with the radio factory.

MikeT: It's a Cossor CDU150 that I have had since the 70s when I needed a dual timebase for a project that I was commissioned to do. I don't recall where I bought it, but think it was a place in Yorkshire somewhere, but could have been the dealer in Holt, Norfolk that has closed recently.
