Re: Identifying electric typewriter
The AZERTY keyboard indicates that it is French or Belgian, or made for the French or Belgian markets.

Initially I thought this was made by the Swiss company Hermes, but I couldn't find an exact match. However, I did come across the machine in the first photo below, which seems to match exactly. It's an exhibit in a museum in Lausanne in Switzerland, and is badged "Select". I haven't been able to find anything about Select typewriters.
There are some other similar-looking machines, but with detail differences, from other manufacturers, and I suspect they were all designs licensed from Hermes. Also shown are a Japy, made in France, a Patria, made in Switzerland, and a Hermes Regent (without the pre-spacing tab keys). |
