Dansette RG30 Capacitor

1 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
I am doing some work on the above record player, I am a bit confused with one of the caps, it is c19 in the diagram (.01) connected to pin 7 from the 6at6 valve. I have removed to cap and it is near enough to what it should be but I will replace it anyway as it is out of the board.
However the colours on it are from what I can see orange, black brown and gold as per photo, now according to a calculator that should be 300pf??
Am I reading this wrong??

Thanks in advance
Rob

I would say that was gold brown black orange. 10,000 pf or 0.01uF.
Not sure why the tolerance is at the front though.

Re: Dansette RG30 Capacitor

I would have gone for 0.01uf with those colours, capacitor colour code marking seemed to change from one manufacturer to another whereas the resistor colour code seemed more standard.
Don’t have one to hand but I seem to remember data books giving various ways that capacitors were coded.

Re: Dansette RG30 Capacitor

As it isn't a paper waxy it is unlikely to be faulty. I would check it for leakage using an analogue ohmmeter and if it doesn't leak leave it as-is. Cheers, Jerry

Thanks for that info!! I didn't think to read it the other way.
