Vintage TVs on Gumtree

Well worth keeping an eye on Gumtree for vintage sets for sale. These three are current at time of posting:

Nice 23" KB dual standard on legs:

Fantastic early 50s Alba TV/Radio/gram:

Hi Steve,
It makes the blood run cold when you see the words 'fish tank' and 'cocktail cabinet' in an advert 8-o Prices are a bit more realistic than Ebay though: I'll have to keep an eye on Gumtree: never really looked on there before!! I like the KB, but Norfolk is a bit far for me.
All the best
Nick

And that Alba must be a rare survivor, hope someone grabs it.

If Gumtree items are to be discussed here we shall need the same rules
for Gumtree as for eBay.

No. Gumtree is a classified ads website, not an online auction website.

Though presumably, being rude about sellers or their items is not good form.

Re: Vintage TVs on Gumtree

That KB is a nice set. I have the slightly later version, it looks almost the same but has a 20" tube and a pushbutton UHF tuner. Over the years I have seen a few of these with corroded speaker grilles, it seems if the set is stored in a damp place the grille is the first thing to suffer. The one on this set looks perfect.
The good news is that the later models are usually mostly fitted with Mullard mustard capacitors making the recap easy!
The CRT on the Alba seems to have lost it's phosphor ?
I bet that cost a fortune new!
Rich.

Or is that just the effect of the pinkish implosion screen?

A friend of mine is arranging to give the KB a good home, thanks for bringing it to attention Steve :)

They're not advertising or selling themselves on here, just being highlighted by interested members, so presumably wouldn't be aware. Any mockery would fall on deaf ears!

It looks like the Alba is missing its tube. I'm sure you can read the words on the inside of the back cover. It looks very Pye / Invicta-esque to me.

Ah, I think you're right! Maybe the fishtank brigade have paid a visit already?

Even better news, he cleaned the dust out, snipped the filter cap and it came to life and is working well!

Correct. There is the possibility that the seller could see the comments here (perhaps if they Google for information about the item after listing it).

Don't say anything here that you wouldn't say to the seller face-to-face. I think that is a good approach for any sort of comment online really.

If there are problems in future we may have to extend the eBay rules to cover sites like Gumtree, but I really hope that won't be necessary. So far it's all fine.

And another nice early 50s set on Gumtree. Looks vaguely familiar but I can't quite place the make and model...

Nice provenance too!

A nice wee console.

That's the one Paul. Let's hope it finds a sympathetic home!
