VHF UHF TV set for home brewing gear
I have acquired a VHF UHF TV set from the dump with glorious valves !!!
Ive only had a brief look after a clean up and i have already two valves for use , a BY88 and a PL500 , havnt had a chance to look at the others yet and as for their ultimate condition ie are they still in good vacuum shape well who knows depending on what else is in there i,m leaning toward something radio RF based either HF or VHF Or something audio with low voltage HT Sometimes the local dump is a gold mine ! Any ideas anyone |

BY88? Probably PY88.

Agreed, "BY" indicates a silicon rectifier diode!

You should be able to recycle the valve audio stage to construct a basic amplifier.
The PL500/504/509 line output valves could be used in a grounded grid RF power amplifier, but whatever you build you need a suitable mains transformer. |

Yes took a closer look it is a PY88. Covered in years of burnt on grime , i was tempted to plug it in but it might be dodgy .
Audio amp sounds like a nice project. its a shame to take it apart but it has defiantly seen better days . A case of seeing whats salvageable and then going from there , caps a probably done for . |
