Looking forward to the NVCF

Hello, looking forward to the NVCF now I have the collecting/restoring bug but, as I have never been before, I was wondering what to expect.

What are the prices like generally? I am looking to pick up a couple (or more:devil:) sets for restoration and a few spares (capacitors and valves etc).

If someone could let me know, (I will be after sets like Bush VHF64 or 71 or 80, or similar Philips or Grundig).

Many regards,
Paul.

Hi :)
I'm very much looking forward to it as well! It's really good, the prices vary a lot, its always good to have a good wander round, on one stall you might find say a Bush DAC90 for £50, but then just round the corner there's one for £20. There's always plenty of valves, again, pays to have a good rummage through the big boxes of loose ones, just in case theres a good one in there. there's normally a good selection of bush sets like your after. once you've been, you'll be back every year!!!

Regards,
Lloyd.

As long as you look around and under tables, you'll find something. Some stalls are expensive but you'll recognise those.

Head for the BVWS stall and you'll find most of us at some time.

Bring money... and not the wife...

Cheers,

Steve P.

Don't forget the Bring and Buy stall. Usually run by Dave Moll and myself at NVCF. People bring a few items to sell (10% commission to the VIntage Wireless Mueum) and there are usually some good bargains, especially later in the day if they don't want to take the stuff home.

Sounds perfect, can't wait. My significant other half has to stay with the kids, so she is not coming.

My father in law is, but he can drive, and is virtually tea-total. (so do they also sell a decent pint of bitter as well? If so, sounds like my idea of heaven).

Will look in at the BVWS stall, so see you soon.

Regards again,
Paul.

There's a decent cafe serving fryups, pies etc. No draught ale but you can get bottles of decent stuff such as London Pride. I don't think there's a nearby pub.

Is there a nearby anything? I suppose it depends on your definition of "nearby".

Plenty of tea there, Paul (I don't drink it, though) so he'll be OK. May I suggest you stick your forum name on yourself somewhere so we can all have a chat with each other?

For those of you that might like a Pub Lunch, Ufton village is not that far away (a couple of miles)

There is a nice pub there, and a selection of suitable ales (just a pity that I am always working when I am nearby!)

Excellent idea. The attached (insert your own forum name, of course, and/or your own avatar) prints out credit-card sized and can be slipped into most name badge-holders, pinned to the lapel or worn round the neck, stuck into the hat-band of Dr Watts's trilby, etc etc :laugh1:

Looking forward to meeting a few of you there!

Is there any interest in the licensed members listening for others on a calling frequency, such as S22 (145.550MHz)?

Cheers,

Good idea, Phil. I would have gone for it, but I use one I made years ago, so I could remember who I am! ;)

Let's all try to do this; it's good to put faces to names.

Wonder how long before Paul Stenning cottons on to the idea of forum tee-shirts ;D

Hi there
Was the world's worst pun intentional, Jon??
I'm gradually beginning to accept the inevitable - that I'll have to make it this year!
See you there

We will have to identify ourselves by our forum names. So I'll bring a friendly penguin, Welsh Anorak will presumably attach a daffodil and leek to his windproof outer garment, not quite sure what Jon will have to do and, scariest of all, Mike Phelan will come as himself.

I shall be there as myself as well (the idea of coming dressed as a giant carrot has been forbidden by Helen).

All being well, I'll help out with the B&B stall.

Not quite sure why a giant carrot, unless it's been heavily irradiated at your workplace:)

I hope that Dave Moll will also help with the B&B which gives a hard core staff of 3. Another volunteer would be very welcome.

Jeffrey, I think that's a reasonable hope - as long as I can sort out somewhere to stay on the Saturday night.
