Stone effect paint.

I noticed that the local hardware store has spray cans of a 'stone effect' paint made by Dulux. The colour and finish on the lid looks quite nice, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience of this product. It is not cheap at $25 (GB£12) so I didn't feel like buying a tin on spec.

I needed some speaker stands, and recently at the dump I found several cast iron bases with tubular pillars and a cast 'head' plate that must have been used with wooden tops for standing-up tables at one of the local vineyards. I have cleaned them up and hope to shorten the tubes to the correct height. I (or rather Mrs BC) wasn't keen on matt black stands in the living room so I fancied something a little different.

Is this product fairly durable (There are no kids or pets) and does it cover minor scratches which will save me sandblasting the parts?

Regards, BC.
