Rank clock radio ic chip problem
2 Attachment(s)
I have a rank organisation clock radio take hangs on the wall
Problem radio doesn’t work because someone got the battery polarity the wrong way around The capacitors around this chip were all faulty so I am now assuming that this will need replacing and as you can see from the pictures there is only L073 or LO73 to identify it So if anyone knows a replacement for this chip I would be most grateful |
Re: Rank clock radio ic chip problem
It would appear the IC had the pins bent to the quad in line (QUIL) format and therefore
it is most likely to be TBA820Q, note this is the 14 pin version, not the later 8 DIL type. I'm looking at Bush BA5450, although it might be badged as Murphy or Dansette. |
Re: Rank clock radio ic chip problem
The chip type is going to be on the top surface. What you are seeing is probably a batch number.
It maybe that the chip type has been purposely removed to protect the IP - I have seen this done on some designs. Most likley though, it has just faded or was badly marked from new. Occasionally it is possible to make faded idents temporarily visible by wiping some IP over the surface of the chip |
Re: Rank clock radio ic chip problem
Thanks for the information it is a Bush BA5450 and the TBA820Q chip looks exactly the same
Again thank you |

It could also help with quite a few old valves........ |
