LA6NCA German Technology

Superb and beautifully presented site here concentrating on German military radio with some excellent internal images:

I liked the story of HRO tuning drives being imported through neutral Portugal- they must have thought highly of them to do that! And the complete receiver copies with substituted Stahlröhren show that the HRO architecture had universal appeal- imitation and all that.

Yes a great site Neil. TS could you give directions to the HRO story section please????

Also does anyone know what that set with a vague resemblance to the R1155 [behind the site owner is?]. There seems to be quite a lot of tranference between German and UK/US gear going on or am I, in fact, misguided about that?

Sure- on the top "Receiver" section, click on the "KST" thumbnail, top RHS, i.e. the HRO-lookalike. I think the set you mean with the R1155-like dial is the Fu.H.E.u1 DF set, click on that thumbnail. I'm sure that the half-moon scale presentation must have been used by many makers in many countries, after all it's based around a pointer on the variable capacitor shaft turning through 180 degrees.
