Mystery telephone
3 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and need your help. I am going to buy this telephone but I know nothing about it. Can someone maybe tell me who the manufacturer is and try to date it? It has a palte at the front mared with MC. Also, I cannot figure out if there is supposed to be an external beel for this telephone or is it built in?
Thank you |
Re: Mystery telephone
Hi and welcome!
Never seen that one, but the handset are probably from before 1930. When you get it I would like to see more pictures from what's inside. dsk |
Re: Mystery telephone
Doesn't look like there's room for any internal bell set.
Is the mouthpiece missing from the microphone end of the handset? Looks like there ought to be a right angled trumpet of some sort on that circular hole. |

Handset and cradle looks very much like an Ericsson.

Re: Mystery telephone
Thank you very much for your answers. You are right Herald, the mouthpiece is indeed missing. The handset to me seems quite common for that era, as I have seen it on many telephones. The cradle shows similarities to the one Euros1951 posted but not quite identical. Seems that it really is an unique telephone

Re: Mystery telephone
M probably stands for Magyar (Hungary) and Ericsson had a joint venture factory in Budapest.
The dial looks German but the telephone does not! http://www.postamuzeum.hu/en is the website of the Budapest Telecomms Museum, and somewhere on this they have a full set of circuit diagrams of old telephones. But it's past my bedtime, so you'll have to do some searching yourself. Good luck, Andy E. |
