Gould MG series SMPSU

Hi All,
My bench power supply went up in smoke unexpectedly.
Does anybody have any circuit info on the Gould MG series of SMPSU - specifically the MG12-43 model (12v, 43A)
I would like to try and repair it but expect to find burnt out components once I get into it - judging by the amount of smoke it produced.
cheers

I don`t have a circuit but my far from perfect memory suggests that a common cause of smoke on those supplies was the soft start circuit. I seem to remember a wirewound resistor after the mains rectifier was shorted out after a second or so to allow full current to the main reservoir caps. when this didn`t happen for some reason much smoke appeared.

Advance MG series power supplies.
I hope the attached catalogue description, prices and the manual will be helpful. Please let us know what the fault is as it will be nice to confirm that barrymagreg's suggestion is correct. wme_bill

I had a bunch of smaller Gould/Advance MMG power supplies, some got sold on here, but I kept two, most of them contained several RIFA metallised paper X & Y type capacitors.
These do release a lot of smoke if not replaced, but they didn't stop the unit I tested (outside) from working while this occurred.
