Thanks Steve. I have a friend who has worked for the Beeb for years-probaly one of the last production staff on a proper contract. She will be delighted to see this footage unless they have forced her out:(

As well as the old TV centre which is now mainly residential use. The film also shows the BBC TV theatre, which today is still open using its original name of Shepherds Bush Empire. Next to the theatre was a small cinema which became a pub and is now semi- demolished. Next to that and visible in the film is Odeon Shepherd's Bush- now a hotel but some of the old facade remains.
In the views from the roof of the TV centre you can see the now demolished White City Stadium, which held, among other events, a lot for stock car racing back then. John |
