English Electric 16T11D TV Knob

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all.

I recently had a bit of a mishap involving the contrast knob on my English Electric 16T11D TV and I wondered whether anyone might have one please.

I'm happy to pay your price plus all the costs involved etc.

Many thanks everyone.

Kind regards.

From Mike.

Should all else fail, I wonder if the BBC Repair Shop programme chiefs would be interested?

An episode with a 16" round tube television brought in to have the contrast knob repaired by Kirsten Ramsay would be a first.

Having her remove the blanket to show not only the repair but the set working would captivate the viewer especially if a tear was shed.

Just a thought.

I was wondering if it would be possible to 3D print a replica, using the damaged one as a guide.

As EE weren't making sets for long I imagine these would be hard to come by.

If a replacement were to be unobtainable, I would be tempted to tape over the hole on the outside and fill from the rear with araldite coloured with the appropriate shade of humbrol grey paint, assuming that access is possible to the inside.

Oooooh, that's an unusual one Mike, had a look, sorry, don't have one of those. That looks a candidate for Milliput, that should fix it or it is possible to weld plastic with a iron, if your not carefull though it's easy to screw things up.

Hi all.

Thank you for the replies, and sorry for the delay in my own reply.

As nice as it is, I don't think I'll be shedding any tears over that TV, Chris. But an interesting thought. :)

Possibly Rich, but those 3D printers usually produce a pretty crude output, and the flutes in this knob are quite delicate. (In fact the whole knob is pretty delicate.)

It looks like I might have to try and repair the old one, perhaps using Araldite as Neil suggests.

Thanks all again.

Kind regards.

From Mike.

OK it was just an idea to 3D print, let us know how you get on.
