270mac

Hi I have this little brown component that I think is a capacitor, if it is what would be a suitable replacement thanks

Is it dark brown or light brown?

Picture?

Does it read open circuit, short circuit or about 270 ohms with an ohmmeter?

What part of a circuit is it from?

Maybe a silly question, but if you don't know whether it's a capacitor, how do you know it needs replacement?

Here it is. The reason I need to replace it is because I have had to replace the vol pot, and I cut this component off and its too short to reconnect, so I thought I'd just fit a new one. Its from a bush SRP31C

It's a ceramic capacitor. But, if it's as it is now, stick a bit of TC wire on the end and it'll probably be fine. Not sure about that 100k though!

Or that 'orrible black and red Plessey....

or that yellow Plessey electrolytic!
Its probably a 270pF ceramic capacitor as ,ucien has said, and I agree with him that a bit of solid core wire would solder onto the end. You might even get away with the same trick on the 100k underneath but for the cost of a new one I think i'd replace that.

It is indeed a 270pF capacitor.

Thank you very much for all your help, I know there's a lot more to do to this amp, but you have helped me to start it , which allways seems to be the hardest part
