Eddystone EC10 Power Supply 4 Pin Connector
 

Hi all.

I am almost finished on a mini restoration of an Eddystone EC10 receiver.

The power supply plug is functional, but one wing is broken.
The connector is marked McMurdo.

Does anyone know what these are called?
Does anyone have an old McMurdo catalogue with these listed?
Does anyone know where I can buy or get a plug please?

At work, in a previous life, we literally used thousands of the ten pin versions of these connectors on modules in audio and control systems.
I think we called them McMurdo PP10 and PS10.

As far as I know, these are now unobtanium. You could try the eddy yahoo group

If you find a source, let me know...

WARNING When used on the AC mains power supply, these connectors are unsafe.

Hi Mike,

I'm just up the road from you in M'Dore. I looked through my parts and sadly I couldn't find one of those plugs, that short one seems quite unique to the EC-10 and I haven't seen it elsewhere.

I really like the EC-10 and have a few of them, on one it had an L/O buffer added to drive an external frequency counter with the IF offset applied.

All of my EC-10 units have had the RF transistors replaced due to the tin whisker problem. I used AF178's which I bolted in using the method shown here:

Mine is an early version, battery only.
Wonder who in Eddystone dreamt up the silly and dangerous mains operation practicalities.

I am not sure which part you want, I have bought several of the chassis mounted socket from the Eddystone User Group and the chap to get hold of is Ian Nutt, I am not sure if I can give his email here, maybe someone will let me know

Hi Mike.. To be honest.. this is surely an excuse to find an alternative connector. Any two pin will be more suitable than the stupidly dangerous mains connection. How did it pass BS415... the safety standard of the time.

Being within the case of the radio and so protected from 'first access' it would have passed BS415 just as uninsulated anode-caps on the tops of PL519 line-output-valves on 1960s colour-TVs did....

Dismounted "High horse"...Yes Tanuki... As the case is earthed, and the live parts un accessible..it was to standard. But in our case, it is a dangerous thing to have "floating about".... apologies.

Mike, maybe a bit late but there is just the one on ebay, it jogged my memory.

No connection to myself!
I saw it whilst was doing a search for a guide price of an 880/2 rx and then searched the forum to find it was you looking.

I eventually found a connector on eBay.
Used but OK.

Might give hope to other searchers.
