Chinese supplier of prototype PCB

Recently recieved some very good quality PCB's from a company in China.

Artwork was prepared in KiCad, and sent as Gerber.

Very good communication, sent me confirmation of recieving files, Quote for manufacture, confirmation of payment recieved, and confirmation when started manufacturing PCB's.

Then confirmation they were complete, along with Photos of the completed boards, and shipping details, including tracking number and sent by Belgium post Phewww!!

Recieved boards just over 1 week after sending order, and they were very high quality, double sided, solder mask both sides, and one side silk screened.

Pictures found at

https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...9&postcount=14

They have soldered up with no problem, and exactly to my specifications.

Price was $44 USD including shipping, for 10 pieces 80mmx80mm

Storefront is DIYGSM (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/208170)

tedchen163@yahoo.com

Usual bit here, I have no connection with the seller, and can not be held responsible if you dont have as good a service as I recieved.

regards

Peter

Mainly aimed at lighting restoration, but a useful source of cotton covered cable in a range of colours, also handy for some obscure types of lampholders and thread adapters etc.

Re: Recommended Component Suppliers.

I have just purchased a couple of switched pots from this Ebay supplier.

http://harrisonelectronics.co.uk/

They do quite a range of single, dual and switched pots with log and linear tracks. Unfortunately they don't appear to do 500k (470K) or 1meg switched log pots (at least at the moment) which are values we commonly require.

The pots have 1/4 inch round shafts (not standard flat) which are 55mm (2.17 inches) long. They use the standard fixing thread, so if you loose the nut, the one off the old pot will fit. The shaft is plastic, not metal, but that can be an advantage giving extra safety in live chassis sets.

I paid £1.75 each for my 2 switched pots plus £1 postage. Although that is cheap the quality looks quite good but only time will tell for sure. ;)

And in central France...Excellent proper shop. Boxes of stuff up the walls if you know what I mean. Certainly worth a visit if you're in the region.

There are still a few old school radio and television shops around, though they are dying away now. Here in Cheltenham in lower high street GL51 there are still a couple, though we did lose Modern radio last year....First up is Gtv tv hifi and radio repairs, tel 01242 235194......The guy opens only a couple of days a week as his hobby now, though when I called in , a modern lg flatscreen was in for repair. Packed full of radio sets, hifi and speakers, and old tellies, its a treasure trove!Best to telephone as he is retired now and only opens up as his hobby a couple of times a week

I notice that whereas you want a 50mm long shaft Tony, those on e-bay have only a 44mm shaft, though I guess might do. (Also, there are two in the pack).

I’m probably too late to say that pots with 50mm long shafts are available from Bowood Electronics, who some forum members might be familiar with. (Bowood was established some years ago by Wilf and his wife Jan. He's great guy who used to work for Bardwell’s in Sheffield). I recently needed a 1 meg switched log pot and they're not so easily come by, but Wilf stocks them. He also stocks 470k (as needed for the DAC90A etc, and 2 Meg, as well as lower values, and linear pots, and stocks un-switched pots too:

They're nice and compact, which I was pleased about as space is very limited in a Dynatron record player that I'm restoring, in which the switch on the pot was duff. The one supplied by Bowood was identical in size. Often the plastic shafts are quite ‘bendy’ but these are quite stiff, so make a good replacement for metal-shafted pots.

I assume that the pot you are looking for is for the volume control and hence, needs to be log law, but if it is a tone control would need to be linear. Bowood sell both. Here is the link to the 10K ones you are after - log and linear tracks:

http://www.bowood-electronics.co.uk/...switched-p-652

http://www.bowood-electronics.co.uk/...switched-p-651

£2.45 eac + £2.85 p&p

Wilf sells lots of other useful stuff and post is modest, as are his prices. Service is speedy too - my pot arrived next day.

(No connection with Bowood, other than as a long term satisfied customer).

Hope that helps - if not now, in the future or to someone else.

Another vote here for Langrex, I have just used them for a couple of NOS valves and a Mazda Octal valve base. Excellent fast service.

for some years now and find them very reliable, with fast delivery at reasonable cost.

Good for tools/solder, resistors, LEDs, batteries, power supplies/chargers, switches, leads, connectors etc .

Hi all. No connection with me but I can only sing the praises of Just Radio in Canada. I've recently sent for a small quantity of their high voltage electrolytic caps totalling about £23. I think there were about 14 in total. Postage was about £5 odd for airmail and they were with me in a week .Can't say fairer than that!

All the best, Alan.
