Bush radio case repair
Hi all
I have a Bush TR 103 which is in decent condition, but has what I would call a bit of a gouge on the front. It's as though it was dragged against a bolt or something so there's a short bit on the front I'd like to deal with. Is there a filler I could try? It's not something that will polish or buff out. Also, as regards colouring, the case seems to be more cream coloured than my TR82 - is this normal? Either way, how would I colour any repair to blend it in? Thanks in advance Martin |

A photo would be handy. You may want to consider using the retro-brite process prior to any cutting and/or filling/touching-up.

Hopefully this shows the gouge clearly.
The aerial is missing so that will need attending to as well. |
Re: Bush radio case repair
I would use car body filler ,sand flat ,then re paint the whole front ,with paint made for plastic , Mick.

Re: Bush radio case repair
Interesting - I will look into that. There must be somewhere near me that could do it.

Re: Bush radio case repair
That looks good to me.
I'm not sure what colour mine should really be. It's a sort of yellowy cream - and it's that colour front, back and top. As for whether it's a burn @Tractionist - I am not 1005 sure, but to me it looks like it's been put in storage in a tight spot and something has dug in as it's been lowered in to the space. I could be wrong. I have visions of a screw or bolt sticking out from the side of a shelving unit or something like that. |
Re: Bush radio case repair
It looks like it’s been in contact with a PVC insulated flex or similar, which has reacted with the plastic over time.

Re: Bush radio case repair
Hi Martin, Ouch that looks deep:(
This is what I use for jobs like this, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Novol-FINIS.../dp/B007Y32U3G It dries to a light colour and is easy to wet sand to an ultra smooth finish. You might be able to mix some paint and touch in with a brush but I suspect you would get a better result by spraying the whole panel. If you like I can lend you a tin of filler as I live just around the corner from you. PM me if you do. Kind regards Tony |
Re: Bush radio case repair
Cheers Tony. I have moved... not far though:)
When I'm a bit more sorted I will drop you a line. @Nickthedentist I will stand corrected if I'm wrong, but the edges of the area are jagged. I've a record player thats suffeted from cable burn and this looks different. |
