Sony ICF 7800
 

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum so I hope that this is in the correct classification.

Just some kind advice please, I recently purchased a Sony ICF 7800 Newscaster in very good working condition, however the frequency display appears to be sticking, and I find this very frustrating when tuning in a station.

I'm surmising that this problem is connected to the ribbon that rotates when tuning in a frequency on the display panel. Is this a common problem and how may I remedy this, as everything else apears to be working fine.

Hi
The tuning scale is a roll of thin material between two rollers
They have to be tensioned to work properly
The service manual shows how to do it .
It's quite fiddly but doable

I thought I'd bump this thread to advise there is now a copy of the ICF-7800 operating instructions on a particular mods site ;)
