Relate 2000 video phone. Value?
Hi everyone, have just inherited a Relate 2000 video phone with box and wondered if anyone would know roughly how much it was worth?

The usual answer is to check eBay SOLD or COMPLETED listings, however there aren't any at the moment, nor even current ones.

That takes me back! I remember visiting the factory that made them down in Portsmouth, as the same company were developing something for a car project I was working on.

Not a lot looking at similar phones.

So how does that work? You plug it into a normal telephone line and voila! you get video, or do you need a specialised type of phone line to use it?
To answer your original question, I feel the urge to make a bad joke in which there may be an awful lot of truth and to say that one of these phones is probably worth significantly less than a pair of them. In monetary terms, a casual collector, someone like myself (if I had space for more phones and hadn't just resigned from a job that paid for such luxuries) might well buy a pair of said phones as, if they worked on standard lines, it could be fun to lend one to friends, but a single phone would serve no purpose whatsoever and would be of no interest to me, so the market would be more limited. |

It uses a standard line, and is compatible with others that conform to the standard: http://www.samhallas.co.uk/repositor...phme_12595.pdf

If you'd bought a pair new, it would have cost you less than two bought separately according to the blurb.....
