Help please with Unitra ZRK Goplana.

Hi, need some help please. I know nothing about electronics.

I bought this radio, it's in very good condition. The problem I have is I turn it on it warms up and I get sound. However after a minute the sound fades away to nothing. Turn the radio off, leave it for 20 seconds, turn it back on get sound again. It warm up and the sound goes again.

Has anyone please got any ideas please? I would be most grateful if someone can help.

Unitra (ZRK) Goplana.
Steve P did one here: https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ad.php?t=30483
I have also repaired one and found lots of leaky capacitors.

Hi, the model I think is a ZRK Goplana. That is what on the back, where else would I look? Thank you.

Hi Sprit, it looks as if it could be leaky capacitors, please read some of the threads that refer to "THAT" capacitor. It would be unwise to switch it on again until you get it sorted as you could cause expensive damage on an otherwise nice set.

As you are discovering, you can't buy an unrestored 50 year old valve radio and expect it to just work. You could learn how to restore it yourself, or pay somebody to repair or fully restore it for you. There is a forum section for commercial repair requests: https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...play.php?f=145

If you have no electronics expertise at all there will be a lot to learn if you want to do it yourself, but it's perfectly possible if you are genuinely interested. Forum members here are very supportive of beginners and can provide lots of advice and guidance.

Hi. I've taken a picture of the valves. Have they blown please?

Re: Help please with Unitra ZRK Goplana.

Valves don't 'blow'. They are rarely responsible for radio faults. There is no shortcut here - you're going to have to teach yourself how valve radios work, or take it to somebody with the right skills.

If you've had sound out the set, it's highly unlikely the valves have blown..... yet.

Valves can be mechanically fragile, but electrically they're generally very robust.

Hi took a picture of this. What is this? Plus the beige capacitor is getting very very hot 155 deg C. Is this normal please?

There is no image attached to your post. Try again. It helps to use the "Preview Post" button.

Hi all thank you everyone for your help.

Luckily I've found someone locally that can repair it. Fingers crossed it won't be expensive, thank you all again.

Attempt at rendering into English:-

Hi.

I bought another set just for spares, however this one works except on MW. What components in the radio are used to receive MW? I know the *silver thing* sets the received frequency. However LW, SW and FM work OK, but not MW. Is there a resistor or a capacitor that has blown or something like that, or is a valve that does this? I'm getting white noise but no stations.

Please help.
* Presumably a reference to the tuning capacitor.

Re: Help please with Unitra ZRK Goplana.

The most likely culprit is the wave change switch. Try cleaning it's electrical contacts with Servisol.
