Star Radio SR-40

I have a Star Radio SR-40. But it's missing it's speaker.
I wonder if anyone knows the speaker manufacture for the SR-40. It's very simiar to this radio, the HE-40. https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ad.php?t=54873 Rich |
Re: Star Radio SR-40
Hi it looks as if most small moving coil speakers that would fit in would do. Is there an output transformer on the chassis or was it attached to the missing speaker?
I'm guessing a 3 ohm type should be suitable. Ed |
Re: Star Radio SR-40
Is that the output transformer just visible on the left behind the S meter?

As it is a live chassis set, make sure the speaker isn't too large where it contacts the metal cabinet. The speaker looks like it was mounted with rubber grommets. Yours has the autotransformer, but it's still a live chassis. The output transformer is the small one. |
