Substantially updated history of Philips television
Pieter Hooijmans has supplemented his very extensive history of the development of Philips Television with new information.
Among other new things it now includes more information on the experimental receivers for the 567 line standard of the 1940s. Highly recommended! https://www.maximus-randd.com/piets-...ision-pt1.html Jac |
Re: Substantially updated history of Philips television
Thank you Joc for posting this update on such a well written and historically important record of Philips by Pieter Hooijamans. The insight to and impact of Philips in the world of inventions is amongst the best and Europe should be proud.
I wonder if a history of GEC Hirst Research and the company generally would be possible given its importance in the UK. RCA in America must also be a candidate but for for one thing, Pieter's skill in making such a readable document will be a hard act to follow. Chris |

I have 2 sets, 1948 Radiola/Philips and another french 1950/51 Philips

Re: Substantially updated history of Philips television
Hi German,
that sounds very interesting, two missing Philips TV sets in the story! I'll send you a PM and Duesseldorf is indeed around the corner. Cheers, Pieter |
Re: Substantially updated history of Philips television
It is interesting to note the similarities of the TV destroyed in the 1935 Berlin Radio Exhibition fire, compared to the 1935 Philips set described in the history article. (British Pathe footage)

Re: Substantially updated history of Philips television
I think the one in the Pathe film was a Loewe 180 line set.
