Default Mullard Valves, Tubes & Circuits and Frame Grid Valves.

Hi,

Whist trawling through my collection looking for more copies of the Mullard Outlook I found a complete set of Mullard Valves, Tubes & Circuits. These were originally published in Wireless World in the 50’s. I’ve also included some information on Frame Grid Valves also by Mullard and was originally printed by Wireless & Electrical Trader.

I’ve scanned and uploaded the Valves, Tubes & Circuits in three parts.

Hope it’s of interest.

Terry.

Fascinating! I am intrigued by the negative bias provided by adding an RF oscillator to an audio amp - one of those circuits which may work better in the lab than in the field?

AND it contains the "authorised version" on the ECL80 push pull amplifier

Excellent - thanks very much Terry!

I haven't yet had time to read in depth, but the Mullard articles speak to many of the issues that were raised in the "Valve Questions" thread.

Cheers,

That is an interesting 15W amplifier using push-pull PL81's and an ECL80 as a bias oscillator....and it's AC/DC. You have to wind your own output transformer for that one.

What a real treasure trove. The launch of so many well-known valves, with useful notes.
And how poignant to see the germanium diode appearing right in the last two edidtions, a foretaste of the solid state tsunami...
thanks very much for doing these. A real sevice to us all.
best regards
Jeremy

It appears that the Mullard Valves, Tubes and Circuits series might have run consecutively in Wireless World magazine from January, 1953. At least the August 1953 through December 1953 issues carry VT&C numbers 8 through 12 respectively, and the September 1954 issue carries VT&C #21. By extrapolation, the last, VT&C #31, would have appeared in the July 1955 issue.

Previous to VT&C, there was a Mullard “Valves and their Applications” series that ran in Wireless World. I have just a few of these, scans attached.

Concurrently with VT&C, Mullard also ran other advertisements for its valves. Some examples are attached.

Cheers,

Many thanks for posting this collection of Mullard stuff. When old age and general decrepitude overtook me some three years ago I had to down-size dramatically and ditch a great deal of paperwork accumulated over a life time in the radio and TV industry. There simply wasn't time then to sort and preserve all but the most important items as I then saw them. Now, postings like these, make wonderful reading, replace lost records, jog a failing memory and transport me back to and the joys (and sorrows) of a life in R & D. And I can keep them and earlier postings of similar type on a memory stick instead of filing boxes!
Cheers
MM

Apparently the Mullard Valves, Tubes & Circuits series went beyond #31. Attached is #37, from Wireless World 1956 January.

Here is a .pdf version of VT&C #37 as published in WW. But it would not be the full version; those usually had an additional page when compared with the WW issues.
