Smoothing choke replacement
Please could I have some advice on a replacement part for a 160 m 2h smoothing choke . Could a use a resistor ? if so what resistance would be best ? Or is there a modern replacement part ?
thanks keith |

Re: Smoothing choke replacement
How about using a Hammond 157R. Available from Bluebell Audio. Look under Transformers, then Choke:-

Re: Smoothing choke replacement
Depends on the circuit. If all the HT comes off after the choke, a resistor of the same value as the choke's dc resistance followed by a much larger capacitor than original would probably work fine. If the rectifier can stand it, up the reservoir cap value as well.
