JRC NRD-535 receiver
Hi all. I have an NRD-535. It was fully working a while ago, and now it's deaf. When you connect an antenna it makes no difference at all, and the volume is very low. I have taken the boards out and cleaned the connectors, still nothing. I have also checked the DC voltages on the small board pins 1, 3 and 6, and they are fine. I can't check the voltages on the separate boards as you need extenders. Have any of you had this problem with yours, any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks Chris.

Re: JRC NRD-535 receiver
Hello Chris
think you'll have to have a poke around with a signal generator. Having looked at the manual, the plug-in boards are going to make fault finding difficult. Plenty of lightning around before the weekend, perhaps just the RF amp fried? Good luck with it. Pete |

Thanks for your reply Pete. Looks like a struggle ahead I wish someone nearby has one then I might have a chance of sorting it ..

Re: JRC NRD-535 receiver
Have you looked into sourcing or making some out riggers/extenders? I'm probably going to need one to sort a fault on my NRD-525.

Re: JRC NRD-535 receiver
Hi Graham. There is a guy on the Yahoo group that is thinking of making some extender boards as they are rare to find . As I said in my last post I am hoping that someone on here has a 535 .

Re: JRC NRD-535 receiver
It may be worth a few more diagnostics like is it deaf on all modes? and is it deaf across the whole frequency range? This may eliminate faults with certain parts, or boards in the receiver. Perhaps you could try to pick up the local oscillator on another receiver (if you have one). For this you would need a bit of technical info such as the first IF frequency to work out where to find the oscillator signal. As has been said, it looks like you may need a bit of test gear to track down the fault. I have no direct experience of the 535 so this is just throwing some general ideas around.
