Hi all, does anyone know what it was built or used for?
Thanks. |

Unless anyone knows differently, the label is fairly specific, an intercom for use during production of the De Havilland Comet airliner. Designed for rough handling.

The fact that the serial number is 1 (i.e. it was a one-off) tends to confirm Bill's theory.

Wow that is a bit of aviation history as the Comet really started off modern air travel as we know it today. what do you intend to do with it?

Thanks, it belongs to friend of mine who has owned it many decades. He lives a couple of miles from where it was made.
I am busy sorting out his hoard. I will dismantle it soon to check its operation, I will add more pics if anyone would like to see the internals. Most of his items are rare vintage audio, but standard models. Last edited by Brian R Pateman; 24th Oct 2014 at 9:59 pm. Reason: Forum rules B8. |
