Westminster Record Player - Stylus Help
Okay, got my dads Westminster record player (we're not sure of the model) he bought in 1967 give/take 1 year, and the needle/stylus came out, and we can't find it for a start; so looking into a new one.
Searched online and found nothing of help, so i am just generally lost and need advice and guidance. Thanks, other than that works flawlessly! |

BSR ST8. Probably NLA, try ST10.

Re: Westminster Record Player - Stylus Help
Thanks, thanks for that Mick, and didn't think anything of the ST8....and sorry for the questions, but is it possible for you to tell me, from looking at that how i would change it when i get the replacement stylus?
I know there is a screw on top, but now we're just clueless on how we would change it when we buy it. That brown ovel shaped thing on the stylus, i take it that would have something to do with it, i don't want to force anything end up breaking the cartridge. Thanks Edit: Also, i take it that there won't be any damage done to stereo records? Last edited by Xaethon; 13th Feb 2010 at 6:46 pm. Reason: Extra information |

Re: Westminster Record Player - Stylus Help
These are one of the easiest types to change, they are held by the metal clip at the rear, just give the lever a twist and they pop out, no need to touch any screws and yes they are stereo compatible.

Re: Westminster Record Player - Stylus Help
I would not use an ST12, which has a metal shank - the ST8 was plastic. They may well react differently in an arm like this (tracking weight etc) and may not fit the cartridge well.
The ST10 (2 LP diamond tips) is a few quid cheaper that the ST8 here , and is a drop in replacement for ST8. The only difference is the ST8 has a one LP, one 78 tip, but if you aren't going to be playing 78s you won't need that. I've attached fitting instructions from my literature, hope that helps.

Re: Westminster Record Player - Stylus Help
Thanks for that picture Ben.
We've only got two 78s, would be nice to hear them as to how they are, since they haven't been played for years, so i will probably just buy an ST8. |
