Default New member desperately seeks Output Transformer for 6AM5/EL91.

Hi all- after many hours of scouring the internet in search of a transformer with approximately 16k on the primary, I've ended up here.

I'm just a hobbyist trying to work thru some of the things in my stash that are less likely to sell than others, as I'm mid- purge, and a particularly low power PT has led me here, as my research suggests these tubes were common in small devices on your end of the pond.

So hello! Please message if you have anything on hand? Thanks!

Hi Derrick. as it is quite a small valve it will not take a high current so primary resistance could be as high as 800R or so.
Assuming it is powering a 3R speaker it needs a ratio of SQRT(16000/3) or about 70 to 1
These should not be too difficult to find

Actually, they weren't all that common in Europe. Designers tended not to use 7 pin B7G types but went from octals to B8A Rimlocks to B9A Novals.

Class A output transformers aren't very critical in typical domestic circuits, so you could probably use anything you have to hand.

Anything from a battery portable would be OK. Mullard show the common DL96 Ra is 15K and the DL94 as 10K

DL96 = 3C4.

A DL96 transformer might be a bit weedy for the anode/plate current though.
