Why the reluctance to re-stuff the old ones? It solves all these problems at a stroke.

No reluctance at all (done it many times) - but when offered capacitors of the correct physical dimensions, that was a beguiling option.

But given where we are now, with 35mm parts (double aargh) and not 45mm, it will be a re-stuff.

Is this, how I imagine, emptying the old one and inserting the new surrounded by potting compound?
