Rare and unusual Kolster Brandes Radios
Hi
This thread has been prompted by the recent discovery of 4 new very early KB models. The new models are 188 & 189 a 283 and an unknown 1930 radio gramophone with twin record decks and facility to cross fade between them, a sort of home disco unit. I have for some time now set myself the challenge to try and catalogue every Kolster Brandes radio and other items of their audio only equipment. I have added all the models I have come across and added photos, where they were missing, to ones already listed in the Radio Museum. If you have a very early, rare or unusual KB item in your collection dont just keep it tucked away in a darkened room, why not let the rest of the world see it. Have a look on the Radio Museum website to see if your interesting KB Radio already exists in its records and that there are some decent photos showing it off in all its glory. If you find it is not listed then I am more than happy to propose the model on your behalf and to upload your photos. Check out the list of known KB models Radio Museum and contact me it you have anything to add. After all its why we are interested in this hobby, to conserve our past radio history and heritage for all to see in the future. I can be contacted through this forum or contact via my website. See below. thanks Mike p.s. my website only has the KB models in my collection, so check out the Radio Museum first to see if your model exists in it. Hi Hamish
That is great, thanks for letting me know. Do you think you could email me some nice photos to upload to the Radio Museum to replace the Black & White one I just recently put there. http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/kolster...phone_283.html Sorry, there wont be a book from the KB Museum. Thanks Mike Last edited by crackle; 4th May 2017 at 11:25 pm. |

Re: Rare and unusual Kolster Brandes Radios
On a slightly different tack, how about the subject of weird and wonderful. These photos were in a portfolio of KB radios which came from the "KB Museum", which was once also in Basildon in the now demolished STC factory, the portfolio was kindly given to me at the NVCF.
This appears to be a clay or plasticine mock up of a potential new model, I wonder if it turned into anything and went into production. Maybe this FP151 It even bears a tiny resemblance to one of these, FB15T How about this stylish design, I have never seen one. and this lavish idea. Re: Rare and unusual Kolster Brandes Radios
I thought some of you may enjoy seeing some more prototype KB radio designs, most of which I don't think got to the production line.
