Default Pye model number needed

From description received it sounds like a Pye PB51 from 1938, but has side contact valves with AZ1 rectifier. Not sure of the other valves. Anyone know what set this might be? LW MW & SW, picture in RR.

TFL John.

Hello John

I wasn't aware of a Pye PB51, do you mean Bush PB51?

My mistake. Its a Pye set with the rising sun logo on top, The description sound looks like it has similar a layout to the Bush PB51.

Hi Colin, that looks like the one, I was told it had two tone wood finish. Strange looking set, Looks like a car radio built into the case!

Thanks, John.

Hello again John,

There must be 2 versions of this model, the service data on Paul's Service Data DVD shows a chassis fitted with TH4B, VP4B, TDD4, PenA4 and DW4/350 valves. The one on the radiomusium site has ECH3, EF9 EBL1 and AZ1 valves fitted. It must have quite a different circuit as it has no audio pre-amplifier triode, just a high slope output valve.

I realised my Trader sheet listed different valves. That was to be my next question. Anyone know of a different circuit? Or was it a different model number?

The Pye model MP uses the same valve line up. Its not a push button set but the rest of the circuit may be similar. Its on Paul's Service Data DVD.

I will have to wait until I get the set, then compare chassis.
