Both the NOVEMBER and DECEMBER dates clash with BVWS events!

BVWS events are advertised for a year or more ahead and Chas receives both the BVWS Bulletin and Calendar.

Gnosall is a lot closer for many of us than Dulwich, RWB, Harpenden, Hatfield, Tonbridge or Golborne, the distant locations of which (for me personally) sadly rule out my attendance at most BVWS events, other than the NVCF which I believe to be the only BVWS event held in the Midlands. I can happily justify attending Radiophile events though, as they're within an hour's drive, and I'm sure this applies to many other BVWS members in this region. I therefore personally can't see anything wrong with more than one vintage radio event taking place in geographically separate locations on the same day, as they're probably serving different sets of customers.

Mark, has Chas scheduled any more teaching workshops at Sambrook this year?

Many BVWS members from the Midlands attend the BVWS events and also like to attend their local events.

Harpenden is also a long way from Exeter So I usaully bring at least two others to share the fuel cost, I know that some of my friends from the Midlands do the same.

Having two events on the same day isn't ideal if it can be avoided.

Having said that I haven't attended one of Chas's events for many years but not because of the distance, its the sheer number of events in the year now SWMBO simply won't allow me to attend any more.

Cheers

We have added the Radiophile dates to the forum calendar.

A few years ago the BVWS (Mike in particular) tried to discuss and agree dates with Chas to avoid clashes, as both groups could benefit. The BVWS also publicised Radiophile events on the website for a while.

However there was no interest from Chas, no reciprocal listing of BVWS events in return - and dates continued to clash.

It seems to happen too often to be coincidence.

I spoke to Chas about the clash of dates. Apparently these dates were booked by him on the 9th December last, i.e. before the BVWS dates were published.

I would also like to point out to anyone unaware of the change, that the next Cowbit is slated for the 22nd June, not for the 27th April as provisionally booked.

Tony has answered most of the points. When Chas asked me to post the dates he knew of the clash but was unable to change due to lack of venue availability.

Further clarification from Chas!! He booked the venues on 09/12/13. On receiving the BVWS dates in January he tried to re-arrange but there was no other availability for Gnosall. Any further communication direct to Chas please.

Does anyone have please start time and venue details for Gnosall, 18 May? Also, does one have to be a member? Many thanks.

Dear all,

I'm sorry, but I have to point out that the BVWS dates were published in the Winter 2013 Bulletin. This was posted out to everyone in mid November 2013. This included the calendar for 2014.
In fact we were some what early in sending out the BVWS Bulletin as an experiment to see if we got more of the renewals in earlier. As it happens, the same people took just as long to renew as the year before!
What is more, the dates were also up on the BVWS website.

I don't think that either organisation can really be affected much by the date clashes, but it is a shame for those who wish to attend both sets of events and have to make a forced decision on which to go to.

Perhaps this thread should now be closed by the moderators as I see it serves no further purpose.
