Default Future Scottish Meets.

Hi.
We would like to have hosted another Scottish meet but this year is out for us I am afraid.
My work involves long shifts and the shift pattern is such that I am often working at weekends, Anne has now some ongoing health problems that effect her mobility and this in itself can make catering awkward, we have tried our best and worked hard in the past as some people have driven a long way to come.
This in itself brings me to another point, the actual cost of getting here, motoring is now a necessity and recreational driving is really a thing of the past, with Diesel approaching £1.50 a litre and petrol not far behind a 200 mile or more round trip is not pocket money any longer. I think in the foreseeable future there won't be many or any further Scottish meets.

Right enough Trevor,

This current fuel problem just how expensive motoring has become.
For those folk up in the north with an interest in Ham radio - Moray Firth Amateur Radio Club are holding a Sale type meet in Fochabers on the 28th April. Last time I went - they had plenty of test equipment, valves and all sorts of stuff. I ken two/possibly three other Forum guys who say they'll go.
Its held in a big scout hut, with a nice little refreshments counter run by the wives. Well worth a visit, even just for the crack.

Regards, David

Yes Brian, the colloquial meaning of crack is friendly chat.

Well, Three of us local Forum guys turned up at Fochabers for the Moray Firth ARC sale. And yes - the crack was good. Plenty of vintage stuff going cheap. Several of the amateur folk were also ex professional radio/electronics guys in their own right, so very knowledgable about vintage HF equipment & test equipment.
The tea counter was well stocked with grub, particularly the sausage rolls.
Andy very kindly helped out on my table, and is taking most of what I had remaining - down to NVCF in two weeks. We'll probably team up to drive down to Norman's at the end of the month.

Regards, David

Hi.
Sadly I wont be able to attend Normans meet. I not only have been rather unwell, I also have to get some tests done, prior to this I couldn't get a day off for the 27th and as it is a weekend day a shift swap is not on the cards!

Thanks Mark.
Getting older by the day and bits are falling off! Sadly Isopon and pop rivets don't work!

You could always try duct tape! Chin up mate.

As it goes (and a bit off topic I'm afraid) I'm having hassle swapping my weekend for the NVCF do.

Back on topic, I hope to make it to a Scottish meet one day...
