Garrard 301
Hi, can anyone advise as to what's involved in removing the arm assembly from this turntable. A friend of mine has sold the deck, but the buyer does not want the arm or plinth, hence he's asked me to remove it before it's shipped. If anyone can offer some helpful if be most greatful.
Thanks. |

Re: Garrard 301
The arm is fitted to the plinth not the 301.

Re: Garrard 301
I'm a bit confused here - surely the arm is not a part of the turntable? In which case it would be a simple matter of around 4 screws and disconnecting the wiring. The 301 as I recall, is just fitted on to the plinth with four bolts.

Re: Garrard 301
Sounds like you need to remove the deck from the plinth.

Re: Garrard 301
The manual for the Garrard 301 is available here:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/10...rrard-301.html It contains instructions for mounting the turntable on a plinth. Simply follow those instructions in reverse order to remove the turntable. This will leave the turntable separated from the plinth and arm. |

Re: Garrard 301
Note that you MUST remove the platter and pack it safely before you ship it. There may also be other precautions people here can advise you about. These are worth a lot these days so it pays to be very diligent!

Yes, there's also a transit bolt that needs to be tightened up.

Re: Garrard 301
Quite right, and they're usually painted red. To remove the platter you need to exert upward pressure on it while gently tapping the spindle with a rubber hammer or something similar, otherwise you will pull the spindle out along with the platter.
