Default BTH C2 horn speaker

This is a carry on from this wanted thread

http://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/s...d.php?t=136791
Thanks to John for this damaged Horn base

I had to fill a chip in the lip on the good side then I cast a mould using some Silcoset 101 that I had it was outof date but set ok
I had two good internal ridges but only wanted 1 on thereplacement side so I cast one of these first moved this to the middle andrecast the whole piece this gave me 3 ridges so had to back fill the 2 I didnot need

Than I laid a layer of glass fibre resin and a piece of matand left it to set
Then using some ISOPON bumper filler to bring it up level
I put more glass fibre across the joints on the back forextra support

A good sanding some primer and Ford rio brown to finish

I still need to fit a new logo to the horn but need to ordersome transparent paper
First to print it
And I will need to rewind one side of the coil ,but for thatI will need to make up a rewinding machine
For now its on display with my Cossor Melody maker

Vince

Excellent job Vince!

Depending on the logo design, you may find that you need white rather than clear water-slide ('decal') paper. I recently printed some 'top labels' for the Wartime Civilain Receiver cabinet on clear paper. They looked fine when on the backing paper, but very poor when slid from the backing paper and applied to the top of the radio. I reprinted them on white water-slide paper, and they turned out fine. Can't attach a pic as I'm away from home till tomorrow.

Every success.

Brilliant job Vince!

The (rather battered) BTH logo on my example is in black and gold on the horn inner, 17mm dia and on my example its centre is 80mm from the lower rim of the horn.

I attach a photo.
