Default ORAC, The home brew transparent TV set.

Something on another thread mentioned a TV in a transparent cabinet. This reminded me of a small transparent home brew TV I built. The images of it and the story behind it is here, its mainly photos:

It got named after ORAC on Blake's 7.

I have attached an image of it too.

Absolutely beautiful and ingenious piece of work, Hugo.

And no surprise that it pleased the Dean of your med school back in the day!

Thanks for sharing that. I can see the meticulous nature of your work and the clear correspondences with medicine and surgery.,

Lovely, do you turn it on with a contact key like in Blakes 7?

No, just the front panel switch, but I could have mentioned that the two steel screws, with the knurled nuts on the battery pack, pass the battery power into the TV. The nuts in the TV that receive the screws are soldered to two small copper plates fixed to the acrylic. The battery power can also be linked into the set via the RCA connectors on the set and the battery back, so the set can therefore be powered either by external 12V DC to its RCA connector or mains.

Thanks all for the kind remarks about it.

Wonderful compact and futuristic piece of equipment Argus! That would be me remarking on Form and Function re the Plastic Ono Band on Oct 6th. "Audio phoolery-cable breakdown-I never knew that!"
