Re: London-based electronics meet?
Would Kings Cross be OK for anyone to get to?

Re: London-based electronics meet?
I can get to Kings Cross as there is a Piccadilly Line station near me. Prefer afternoons in the Winter though and not as cold as the past couple of weeks!

Re: London-based electronics meet?
Why? I have removed that now, but I just thought of some hobbies where electronics might be used. All projects are subject to approval anyway, so anything which is unacceptable (e.g. medical quackery, unless it is historical) would not be allowed.

As for why; it's anti-scientific horse manure. I have an aquaintence who does that sort of thing and makes a career out of purposely misinterpreting everything and avoiding all reasonable scientific explanations and using magic tricks to persuade wallies what is not going on, is. I rarely get angry but five minutes with him and I want to turn into The Incredible Hulk. |

Re: London-based electronics meet?
Wait a minute. I have started a meetup group, paid the subscription and put time and energy into it, purely to allow hobbyists to meet each other and share their projects, which include vintage electrical restoration, musical instruments and science projects. I have decided to post an invitation on this forum, because I thought people here would enjoy going to the group. Nobody is forced to join the group, or to participate in any project within the group.
This is the response that I get?!?

Re: London-based electronics meet?
Don't take it the wrong way. It's a good idea and I'd be in immediately but you don't want a certain brand of crazy there. I've been there and it's one step to ruin, which is what we (well at least I) wouldn't want to happen to a social meet.

People might want to read Forum Rules, section G.
Play nicely or this thread will close.

Please don't worry, I know that posts on any forum can sometimes appear or even be very literal and blunt. I'm sure nobody meant to sound critical of you personally. We met briefly once at Hackspace a couple of years ago when you weee getting into Arduino and I remember you as very warm and personable and friendly. I don't know if I can readily get to such a meet at the moment but your efforts in setting it up are obviously from a place of wonderful intention and I hope others appreciate this, too, and that you have a good turnout and fun and interesting times. Warm best wishes

Re: London-based electronics meet?
Paranormal....Surely if electronics has anything to do with it such as sensing etc then there's no problem unless you're into building and using death rays to harm someone. Might as well dismiss Galileo, Newton, Darwin and all the other greats.

Re: London-based electronics meet?
Good work, Lucia! Unfortunately I can't make these meetings ATM but I feel happy that you've got something started and in such a handy space and well-equipped space as Hackspace !! Kudos to you and I hope you have a fun and interesting time.
