Default Trio 1830 oscilliscope

Good day all

I have a problem with trio 1830 scope not showing a display, if I switch it off and on quick I can see a blured image but not a permanant display are there any known stock faults with this scope or could it be the tube showing its age, but even if that is the case I should see some kind of display.

You need to pull out the trigger knob to get a trace in the absence of input signal.
