Default What is a Studer C37 worth?

I was looking to purchase a C37 about 4000 hours heads are 60% 2 track 1/4"
din head stack.
If there is anyone knowledgeable on these if you can give a guess on price.

Guidelines would be appreciated .

Hello I have had a couple of these machines, depending on the condition and if it has the Studer stand or not, the machines tend to fetch in faulty condition £500, in working condition £1500+, with the stand £2000+ Many factors involved though, does it have all the amps, is it stereo? does the machine have butterfly heads, and the later style ones or the old wideband heads, has it had the bearings done, has the power supply or any of the electronics been checked repaired? the C37 suffers from low hum which is a result of the old components on the PSU, once the machine warms up, there is a chance of background hiss, this shows the amp modules have not been done. Though this is not critical, its a good idea to upgrade key components on these machines to improve performance, and if this has already been done, it adds to the value.

Thank you for the reply.

It has all the amps and it is a 1/4" 2 track stereo recorder. It has Nab heads. What are more preferable; butterfly, din or Nab? No bearing or power supply work or, for that matter, the electronics. It is a clean unit 4000 hours with console, cosmeticaly the paint is 90%. I don't know it's service history.

Would €2000 be fair?

€2000 would be fair, the heads are either butterfly or wideband, NAB and CCIR is the electronics EQ,

Ok .it is wide band heads with NAB electronics equalization.

I have a question which one is better?

Are they interchangeable?

Can I use Butterfly heads with the nab electronics and visa versa?

thanks for the help

NAB and CCIR are the electronics EQ's and nothing to do with the heads as such, it does not matter if you have butterfly or wideband, both can be used with the two standards of EQ, though the butterfly heads are more desirable, NAB EQ is preferred in the US where the UK prefer CCIR, some C37's will have a switch to select between them, many do not.
