Default No playback from my Stellaphone ST451

Hi all,

I recently picked up a lovely 'little' Stellaphone ST451 from 1959, it's neat! However I am having a little problem; every function appears to work flawlessly apart from reading audio off the tape. It feeds and plays fine, but no audio. The valves are all glowing and the speaker hums, but I'm at a dead end. I've fiddled to no avail but this is verging on being outside of my comfort zone. Any help the folks here can provide would be greatly appreciated, as resources online are basically non-existent for this machine.

Thanks in advance,

There's an entry in the radiomuseum here :

which might be a starting point.

This is a Philips EL3527 in disguise....

http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/philips_el3527_00.html

Note that payback occurs with the green light (DM70) off. If it has those black waxy capacitors on the circuit board then change the lot. No messing....

Check the head connections and the rotary switch. This can be a root of many evils.

Cheers,

Steve P.
