Default Diode identification

I just got a mixed lot of parts which I've gone through categorising. Unfortunately I'm stuck on a diode. Can anyone shed any light on this one?

Glass package. Stripes are violet, grey, violet, green.

This came in a large lot of CV marked parts so this may or may not be of help.

Any help appreciated.

Vf is 0.8v approx so definitely silicon.

What about the CV7875 silicon avalanche diode?

Looks like a reasonable match...

Yeah looks about right actually. I'll see if they blow up if I reverse bias hard enough - that should answer that Thanks - appreciated.

Incidentally, I just noticed this bag of stuff has an almost complete set of semiconductors in it to build the PW Purbeck scope. Interesting find!
