General help with TV please.
Hello there.
I recently bought an Ekco TV set and wonder if any one could answer a few questions for me please. Thanks very much in advance to anyone who can help. What year was it made - its black and white if that's any help? Could it be converted to colour? Could a SCART socket be attached so it does not become a large ornament when the digital switch over comes? Last edited by Station X; 8th Sep 2011 at 9:40 am. Re: General help with TV please.
Year: I think it's the early 70s Pye hybrid chassis (the vertical one) in there so thats the period.
Colour: No chance! Buy another set if you need that. SCART: Again don't even try to convert it, buy an external modulator instead. The Labgear MOD111 is a good one, that will give you SCART functionality with a set like this. |

This set has the 169 chassis in it and does indeed date from the early 70s. and I would go with what's already been said as far as wanting colour and that is to get another TV. Here's some pics of my one. Cheers Neil.

Re: General help with TV please.
You can connect a Freeview box to it if it has an internal UHF modulator - some do, but most don't. You can connect any Freeview box via a VCR as almost all domestic VCRs have a modulator.
