Re: Grelco
If a Grelco tree falls out of a socket when no-one is there to hear it, does it go Clang?

Re: Grelco
Would that be on account of your theatrical connections?

Re: Grelco
I used to help a neighbour do amateur theatre lighting back in the mid 80s and we used those old vintage Grelco adapters. Most were painted red. That's where I first heard of that make.
I used to hate unravelling all the cables tipped out of the bag. They got terribly knotted up . |

Re: Grelco
In theatre lighting, 'grelco' has become a generic term for 2-way 15A adaptors not just Grelco ones, with the term 'trelco' coined for a 3-way. However the current favourite type, imported from South Africa where the 15A plug (rated 16A) is still standard, is called a 'Snapper'. This is the actual trademark of the manufacturer Lumex who also make a 3-way cable-ended type called a 'Snapperdaptor'. So a 16A Snapper is a 15A grelco and a Snapperdaptor is a trelco. Don't get me started on dominoes and 3-in-lines...

Re: Grelco
Hi,
Here's my contribution to this Grelco thread. I wonder how often the earth pin of a plug accidentally entered the live hole of a socket the next size up? Especially when groping along the skirting board behind the sofa! Cheers, Pete P.S. I can build adaptor trees too, Lucien!

I think we've just discovered a new art-form.
