Default Test generator crystal change

I'm using a Heathkit IG-37 stereo FM alignment generator which uses a 5.35MHz crystal oscillator to generate the 10.7MHz IF marker.

I'm hoping that I can simply plug in a 6.25MHz crystal to change the IF marker to 12.5MHz to align Leak Troughline tuners.

Is it really as simple as that?

Ha! Guessed it before getting down to the next new post!

You could just use a spare sig gen and inject into the grid pin with the crystal removed. With a good sig gen you can move your marker around and read off where it is.

Would something like an AVO CT378B be ideal?

You'll need to get it going and calibrated first
Adding a frequency counter would help.

Robert will keep the thing until you collect it. I've just got permission from Mandy

I'll leave it with him sometime over the weekend. I'll PM you his contact details so you can arrange a rendez-vous to suit both of you.

Is that a laboratory grade signal generator

No, it's a general-purpose military 2-250MHz free-running oscillator with good screening and a reasonable attenuator. Built to a reasonable standard. The 2MHz lower end rules out AM broadcast radio fixing uses. It doesn't have a crystal calibrator.

I attached pictures to the post offering it.
