Fuse style bulb
Hello,
I'm fixing my dad's quad rotel receiver and all the scale illuminating bulbs have blown. They're about the size of a 32mm fuse, I remember a few years ago you could get 32mm bulbs but can't find them anymore. Does anyone have a source for them? Or what the proper name for them is? Festoon bulbs seem to big.. Cheers Stevie |

Re: Fuse style bulb
I know the things, I wonder if Christmas tree lamps could be used instead, depends on the voltage.
Some years ago I used them with success in a tuner amp, cant remember which. |

Kind Regards Dr. Dave

Re: Fuse style bulb
Halfords and other car accessory shops stock festoon bulbs.

Re: Fuse style bulb
Quite right Nick. Having reread the thread it appears that these aren't actually festoon bulbs as I understand them at all though.

Re: Fuse style bulb
I've replaced these on a few occasions with a small row of maybe 4 high-brightness LEDs, soldered together in series with a current-limiting resistor. This gives good, long-lasting results with moderate-sized scales and you can have whatever colour suits the display

Re: Fuse style bulb
I did think about swapping them for LEDs but they're powered by 6.3V AC (leftover valve transformers?). They're pretty weird bulbs and there's about 6 of them. They've got the festoon style pointy end caps but the glass doesn't stand proud of the caps like a festoon bulb. As amps go it strikes me as a pretty weird mix of germanium and silicon transistors. Everything's discrete on the quad section. Sorry going OT....
Cheers for the answers anyway. Stevie |

Re: Fuse style bulb
eBay had several, do a search and you should find what you are after.
