Baird TR1 reel 2 reel
Hi, I have a Baird reel 2 reel tape recorder but I know very little about this machine.
There seems to be no information that I can find. Can anybody tell me about it please? I want to know if it is worth selling or scrapping! Thanks Sue |

Re: Baird TR1 reel 2 reel
It's a pretty standard, basic model with a decent Collaro Transcriber deck. Not worth a lot but of interest to someone. It dates from 1957; the electronics were by Hartley-Baird in an Ambassador cabinet.

Re: Baird TR1 reel 2 reel
If I were you I would put it on eBay, collection only, with a 99p start. It's unlikely to fetch a great deal but you may be lucky.
Alternatively if you just want it to go to a good home you could offer it here FOC or for £5. Forum rules state that you can't ask for offers. It does seem to be in nice condition. |

Don't scrap it, someone will have it for the valves alone!

Re: Baird TR1 reel 2 reel
Hi,
If I remember correctly, this Collaro deck was very well built and very complicated. Instead of turning the tape over at the end of side one, it was run in the reverse direction (right to left) past a second set of heads at the right hand side. The capstan & pinch roller were in the centre. Three motors, I think? It's a nice bit of equipment! Cheers, Pete.
