Re: Schlumberger Solartron 7150 IEC inlet & filter
fault seems to be in a DG211 quad analogue switch ('forcing signal). Still available from RS - there is still hope!

Re: Schlumberger Solartron 7150 IEC inlet & filter
The DG211 (quad FET switch) for this meter arrived today and ...
SUCCESS! Apart from the broken LCD, its now fully operational via the IEEE488 bus, all ranges agree closely with my reference meter and require no adjustment. I've had it analysing the discharge of some metal hydride batteries (attached). dc |

Re: Schlumberger Solartron 7150 IEC inlet & filter
Be warned that if you do buy a new (or NOS) replacement FN372-2/21 or the 4/21 or 6/21, that the voltage selection cam will most likely NOT be correct for the wiring in your 7150/7150+/7151/7061/7071/7081.
You should move the cam from the old inlet to the new one, and as the new one won't have any fuses, you'll want to transfer those too. Cheers

Re: Schlumberger Solartron 7150 IEC inlet & filter
Hi chaps
You will find that mains filters are stuffed by PAT testers, it used to happen often at work. I would not let a hairy (a---d) electrician anywhere near my test gear. Earth continuity can be verified with an AVO never mind applying 20A for 10 secs and 500V for insulation. I have seen some filters in Rapid electronics. The displays on these DVM's are a pain tried everything paint on silver paint, any other ideas ? ti ra fer nw Keith |

Re: Schlumberger Solartron 7150 IEC inlet and filter.
Has anyone had a 7150 that resets itself constantly from switch on?

Re: Schlumberger Solartron 7150 IEC inlet and filter.
If the PSU looks clean then look for a watchdog reset circuit.

Re: Schlumberger Solartron 7150 IEC inlet and filter.
The power supply voltages are a little up:-
+/- 15volts up to +/- 16.5volts. The 5V lines are also up a little. Watchdog circuit; what should I be looking for? Could this problem be down to a faulty Eprom? |

Re: Schlumberger Solartron 7150 IEC inlet and filter.
The watchdog is described in the service manual page 2-12.
Scope the RESET line of the CPU. If it is constantly pulling low then the CPU is being RESET. Centered around IC517, the watchdog ultimately resets the CPU after ~50mS if its not prodded by the CPU. The prod is from IC512 on the Y4 output (decoded address 4000) If Y4 is strobing (at much less than 50mS) then the fault is in the watchdog NOT being inhibited. HTH dc |
