Default Hacker Mayflower RV14 Radio

I have been fortunate in acquiring RV14 S/Nr 515 and have coaxed the set back into life BUT the drive cord has broken and there is no pointer. Reckon I can make a replacement pointer but am really stuck on the drive cord threading plan. Anyone got photos or info: ( please )? I am not sure if all the pulleys are in situ, also should there be a coil spring in series with the cord?

I am new to this site, so apologies in advance if I breach any protocol!

Hi welcome to the forum. I will take a look though my Hacker manuals to see if I have anything. Have you looked at the service information that you can download from this site?

Hi,

A copy of the original Hacker RV14 manual is available by clicking on the 'Vintage Radio Service Data' box at the top of the page. I would also mention that the RV20 Mayflower II, has an almost identical chassis.

I have an RV20 manual and in my opinion, the dial cord-lacing diagram is not particularly clear, perhaps the RV14 manual is clearer?

Here are some pictures taken of an RV20 chassis. The tuning is wound fully to the 88Mhz end of the dial.

I've just had a look at the RV14 manual that's available from up there, and unless I'm going mad, it doesn't appear to include the lacing diagram...

Hmm, I bought a photocopy years ago from Savoy Hill and that doesn't either, though the text refers to one. Very strange.
